The Judges ventured south this past weekend to compete in the 2022 UAA Cross Country Championships hosted by Emory University. The meet took place at Nash Farm Battlefield outside of Atlanta on a warm fall morning. The competition was intense, the course was demanding, and the Judges gave their all over the 6 and 8k distances.
At 11:00 AM, the women’s 6k got off to a fast start. Led by junior Juliette Intrieri in 26th, the Judges took home 7th place in the highly competitive UAA.
Senior Bridget Pickard capped her UAA cross country career with an 8 second PR over 6k, finishing 32nd in a time of 23:16
At high noon, the men’s 8k saw the difficult course torn apart by a blazing field of 75 runners. The Judges ultimately finished 8th, a sign of the strength of the conference in which we compete.
Freshmen TJ Carleo and Robert King both notched PRs, finishing 2nd and 3rd for Brandeis. TJ was 52nd in 26:41, and Rob was 62nd in 27:00.
As the weather gets colder and the leaves turn, the cross country season winds to a close. But the Judges are not done yet. Their next battle will come in Brunswick, Maine on November 12th. The NCAA New England Championship will bring together the best that the region has to offer. The Judges will fight to keep the season alive and punch a ticket to the National Championships in Lansing, Michigan.
