The men and women of Brandeis cross country were back on the course this past weekend at Harkness Memorial Park for the loaded Connecticut College Invitational. It was a deep field featuring possible podium teams on both the men’s and women’s sides. The Judges held their own, posted some impressive times, and even took home a victory!

In the Men’s White Race, the Judges secured a 3rd place finish with 109 points!

  • Senior Matthew Driben continued his winning ways, taking home the victory by a comfortable 44 second margin and finishing in 25:25 for 8k!

  • Freshman TJ Carleo also improved his 8k best, posting a 26:43 for 12th place and 3rd for the Judges!

In the Women’s Blue Race, the Judges battled to a 15th place finish in a star studded field of 308 runners!

  • Junior Juliette Intrieri started the scoring and came home in 40th, claiming a 15 second PR and finishing the 6k in 22:48!

  • The Freshman duo of Katriona Briggs and Ella Warkentine also proved they can take the heat, finishing in 23:33 and 23:42, respectively

Overall, it was an exciting day in Connecticut that showcases everything that cross country is about. There were competitive fields, fast times, and the unique challenge of navigating a cross country course while pushing to the limit. The Judges came away with PRs and renewed motivation heading into championship season.

The blue and white stripes will next take to the course for the UAA Championships on October 29th, hosted by Emory down in Atlanta. Roll ‘Deis!

And we can't forget this awesome shots from Smiley Huynh @smileydoesphotography!
