On a day of rain, mud, and sunshine in Brunswick the Judges took to the course for the NCAA D3 East Regional Championships. The men and women of Brandeis rose to the level of the competition and put up great performances on both sides, taking home hardware and a podium finish in the process.
The day began with rain and roars from the crowd in the Women’s 6k. Despite difficult conditions the Judges put up their best team race yet, finishing 3rd in a field of over 30 teams!
3 Judges took home All-Regional honors by finishing in the top 35!
Junior Lizzy Reynolds led the way in 18th place
Junior Juliette Intrieri was 3 seconds back in 22nd place
Senior Bridget Pickard followed in 24th, 5 seconds later
The men followed an hour later in strikingly different conditions. The skies cleared and the sun beat down, creating a humid atmosphere and difficult racing environment. Despite the challenges the men battled to an 11th place finish!
Junior Lucas Dia showed grit and determination, posting a strong race and finishing first for the Judges in 42nd place.
Overall, it was a day that showed off the best of what collegiate cross country has to offer. The conditions were challenging, the races were competitive and everyone had to rise to the occasion to be their best. It has been a great fall season for the Judges, and now it is time to move on to track!
